Article Optimization - Directory Submission 101

Article Optimization - Directory Submission 101

Word Count:
953

Summary:
Need to increase traffic to your website?  Write more articles, but do it effectively by practicing good search engine optimization!

Keywords:
article, directory, search, engine, optimization,  website, promoting your website

Article Body:
It is a pleasurable challenge writing to Ezine and Article publishing Directories.  This is the "sandbox" that most writers are contributing to today.  More articles are written and show up as an entry to Google, Yahoo, MSN, AltaVist and other search engines than their are websites.  Some websites are articles in themselves.  It is much easier to write an article than it is to build a new website for most of us.  The common person may not be able to do build their own website, but he or she may have the talent to be a successful writer. Think of the competition though!  Thousands of writers writing about their content, promoting their website, and sharing their ideas.  The numbers are overwhelming!  There are a number of things that a writer needs to be aware of when submitting articles to develop a mass readership.

- If you want your article to show up on page number one of Google, it has to be optimized.  Optimization is done by following some of the simple rules called "Search Engine Optimization".

Choose a <b>high quality article directory to submit to.  This will contribute a great deal to getting the article close to the number one spot.  You can determine the <i>article directories PR rating</i> in Google ·by installing the Google task bar on you browser and going to the article directory website.  Contributing your article to the directory is a very simple thing.  You will have to provide personal information, possibly a pen name, your website url if you have one, and the category you will be writing about.

Use <b>keyword rich content in the title, teaser, and body of the article.  You have to do some keyword research and plug them in to your article every chance that you can.  A good example in this article would be the keyword It has to make sense when you use it.  Once every paragraph or two and your readers will not get bored with the article and keep reading until the end of the article.

Use bold, italic, and underline when it seems appropriate with your keywords.  Using Google, go look up some of your favorite keywords.  You will notice in the list of Google links that the keywords you put in are in bold.  Google picks up on the keywords.  Let me repeat that, Google picks up on the keywords.  In SEO Made Easy, the author indicates that not only does Google pick up on keywords, but Google picks up on keywords that are in bold, italic, and underlined.

Article Directories will let you place one to three incidents of anchor text in the body of the article.  This is an excellent way to <i>get a link back to your website</i>!  Google takes a while to do this, but eventually it will index the article and register the link.  You can work in your keywords in clever fashion this way.  If you have a website, and you are promoting your website in the article, this is the opportunity to use the keywords from your website.  If the article directory allows the technique, html anchor text entries can be made in the body of the article as well as the bio.  The reader would not normally know that html was being used.  Of course the Article Dircetory has to accept html code for this to work.

in the article writers bio.  <i>Most Article Directories  accept three, others will only allow you one.  This is the sales pitch.  If you have interesting content in the article, and have succeeded in convincing your reader that your contribution is worth investigating some more, they will want to go to your website and look some more!  This is the author's sincere wish most of all, to gain trust and repore with his or her readers and to start a continuing business relationship.  It can be done with a proper close to the article asking for the reader to "come on in, the water is fine!"

If you want your article to be read from start to finish, choose keywords and content that will make sense to the reader.  Don't try to write about nuclear physics to a business crowd.

This is done easily by entering your keywords into Google.  Look at the number of entries returned.  An article will be successful if you choose an audience that is not to large that you cannot compete against and not so small that you will only expose the article too few times to too few readers.  When starting, it is a good idea to start with keywords that are getting about 30 hits a day at Overture.  Normally there would also be less than ten million entries returned from the Google keyword search for your topic.  Work on the larger populations when you get this down.  You will find innumerable targets and keywords that you can do this with.  There is no end to topics available on the internet.  What a rich source of information!

They have a way of finding out if your content is not original.  Article directory submission guidelines always require you have exclusive license allows your name to be associated with the articles produced for you or by you.  So don't do it.  You will get caught!

Enjoy your writing!  The world is open to to your ideas and more than willing to accept what you have to offer, if it is done the right way!

Starting a home based internet marketing business is not for everyone; but if you have a love for marketing, and the desire to run your own company, this opportunity may be for you.

Obviously, if you want to start your own home based internet marketing business it would help if you have some background experience in the industry to fall back on.  This is always helpful because it will cut back on your start up time, and will also allow you to offer a higher level of service to potential clients.  Being able to tell clients that you have 15 years of marketing experience will go a long way in securing you a lot of work.

The great thing about starting an internet marketing business is that you should have no problem getting your name in front of potential customers; after all, you are an internet marketing specialist!  You will want need to set up a webpage where you outline what your company does, as well as your past experience.  By doing this clients will be able to visit you on the web, and make a quick decision on your abilities.

Many people are not sure of what the internet marketing industry consists of.  When you are running an internet marketing business, you are going to be showing your customers how to increase web traffic, etc.  This is hard for some people because they are used to more traditional means of marketing such as direct mail, etc.  Even though you can offer these services, your main goal will be to convey yourself as an internet marketing specialist.

Starting a home based internet marketing business is not for everyone.  Most of the time, the people that are most successful in this field have some sort of past experience.  But if you don't have experience, and you are still interested, you can still give it a go.  There is nothing wrong with researching the industry, and trying to learn as much as possible as you go along.

Home internet marketing businesses have become very popular.  If you are looking for a way to become more independent, you may want to consider this option.

Article Body:
Are you getting tired of spending $50.00 a week just going to and fromm your job? I know I would, but I don't need to do that any longer. I found the perfect job. I work when I want to work, and I don't have a boss telling me what to do and when to do it.

I make money doing paid surveys. You don't need any experience and it doesn't take a lot of time, which gives me the time to do the things I want to do.

I sometimes even get free products in the mail to try. You can take surveys online at your computer, in the mail, or over the phone, I do all three.

Some of the advantages of doing surveys over having a job are time to do the special things you need to get done without having to ask a boss if you can get off work to do them. No fighting the traffic to and from work, not to mention the cost of the gas you spend. If you have children you don't need to pay for child care, just keep your child at home while you do your surveys. There are many more advantages, but I think you get the picture.

There are many ways to make money online, affiliate marketing, selling your own product, and  member sites to name a few. Have you tried any of these, I have and failed at most of them. I doubt that over 5% of the people are making any money using those ways of making money on the internet and they can be time consuming and expensive in some cases.

I use surveys while I am learning other ways to make money on the internet. I think this is the best way, because building a business in some of these other areas can take a while to get going. Is it easy, yes its easy, but you will need to work. I haven't found anything worth doing that didn't take some type of effort. There will be days you don't feel like doing anything, you will need to force yourself to get going on those days. You won't have anyone to make you do something, so if it needs to be done you will have to do your own self motivating. This is probably the hardest thing you will have trouble with being in business for yourself.

If you are tired of a dead end job you owe it to yourself to at least look into this golden opportunity. More people are leaving the work place for work at home jobs, so get started now before everybody finds out how easy it is. Surveys just might be the perfect job for you.

Fake Pagerank Checker

Fake Pagerank Checker

Word Count:
563

Summary:
Acquiring domains or website or even purchasing links is a risky process, fraught with all kinds of frauds. During the process of due diligence, we propose that you consider a Fake PR Checker as a tool to avoid getting conned by URL Jackers.

Keywords:

Article Body:
We try to rank things in order to manage the complex universe around us. We try to get that 4.0 GPA, the highest ranked university and want our favorite team to rank best. The Page Rank designed by Larry Page of Google is a rank assigned to each of the pages that are indexed by Google. This page rank is calculated using the "Backrub algorithm" and is often considered to be a proxy for Google's search ordering. In other words, a high Page Rank(PR) page will rank higher on Google(all other factors being the same).

There is a vast and growing market for text links. A lot of highly ranked sites think of outgoing links as a way of monetizing their site (supply) and businesses that need visitor/search engine exposure buy the links(demand). While the purists may look askance at such a market, supply and demand is what the market makes.
Even the Garden of Eden had a serpent, and one would be surprised if all was as it seems in the text link market. Indeed scams abound, ranging from "no follow tags", pages removed from navigation, or included in robots.txt file. But, there is a scam that gets almost everyone, except the truly paranoid. This scam is "Fake page ranks" or URL jacking.

The mechanics for spoofing the page is extremely simple and the results are awe inspiring. Using this technique, one can get any page rank they wanted…even PR-10. So, the burning question of how to do it? All one has to do is to obtain a throw away domain and do a 301 redirect in your .htaccess file on it to a page with PR. You want PR-5  to make it more credible, or with your boundless ambition, you want a PR-10 page…the choice is yours. Let's assume that you chose the latter…and you can point to Google.com itself and inherit it's PR-10. After Google PR update happens, you can detect Google bot and selectively forward it to Google.com itself. Everyone else gets to see your site and its fancy PR-10 rank.

So far so good. You have done nothing illegal, immoral, unethical etc. Things can go downhill from here though, if you attempt to sell the domain, or sell links from this website based on it's PR—sheer fraud, in other words.
The webmaster who plays with 301 redirects is actually losing out in the end. His rankings will not rank higher…in fact the site won't even get cached by Google.
For kicks we did a case study and picked up a domain from expiring domains that purported to be a PR-7. We chose a subject near and dear to our collective hearts(NOT!)…Michael Jackson. We gave this Micahel Jackson tribute site,  kind of a snazzy look, quickly wrote some content for it.
We also wrote a tool which allows you to check to demonstrate that the page rank is completely fake.

Acquiring domains or website or even purchasing links is a risky process, fraught with all kinds of frauds. During the process of due diligence, we propose that you consider a Fake PR Checker as a tool to avoid getting conned by URL Jackers.

An Internet Business Can be Your Financial Saftey Net!

An Internet Business Can be Your Financial Saftey Net!

Word Count:
743

Summary:
Starting your own Internet Marketing Business can be a financial saftey net. Just develop some skills, be determined to succeed and follow some basic business principles. Many people around the world do this and make comfortable full time income online. Are you ready?

Keywords:
Internet Business,web business,online business,internet marketing,ebooks,information products

Article Body:
The other day I was talking to a couple of my friends at a coffee shop and we were discussing the inability for average workers to get ahead. John had just received some money from a relative and had spent the day trying to get a good rate for his investment. He had only been offered 5.5% and wanted more.

He had $10,000 to invest and was happy with an interest rate of 5.75%. The best "at call" rate he had found after much research with financial institutions. He was after a safe investment during these uncertain times.

My other friend responded, "I wish I had the spare $10,000 to invest in the first place!". He went on to say that how difficult he found it to save any money after paying his bills each week. (Something you hear all the time)

We got out the napkin and a pen and looked at the situation. He had put all his efforts into running around to get an extra 0.25% on his money!

So instead of getting $550 in interest on his ten grand for the next 12 months, he would now be receiving $575.... Big deal....

An extra $25 for the year! He probably spent that much driving around and in phone calls.

What a waste of time and energy if you think about it!

My other friend on the other hand would love to have an extra $10,000 to invest. However, his day job does not allow him to save enough to "get ahead".

But.... He possesses a crucial ingredient that can earn the extra money he desires.... The ingredient is.... His "spare time".

Without changing or giving up your "day job", asking for a pay rise, or finding a second part time job....
The average PC literate person can earn a substantial extra income from home just by selling simple information products they create themselves based on what they "already know" and all in their spare time.

Marketing information.... Information people want, in the form of ebooks, ebooklets, special reports, audio tapes, video's and CD-roms is still the best home based Internet business you can start.

It's as true today as it was four years ago on the Internet.

People often ask me if it is really possible to earn decent money on the Internet if you only have a few spare hours in a day to devote to your online business. Surely the law of business prohibits you from "gaining a lot for very little"?

Here is the key that many people new to online business MISS....

You might only work 2 spare hours a day on your little Web business BUT your Web business (your website) WORKS FULL TIME 24 hours a day for you!... This is the reason why it does not take much of your time and yet can return far more than an hourly wage for the ACTUAL hours you put in.

Having a well-constructed website that sells for you 24 hours a day, 365 days a year on "autopilot" is like having an "electronic employee or salesman" working for you and presenting your product perfectly every time.

It's a business that works unmanned... Like a shop that never closes.

But you know.... It's not just the money you make, it's about establishing something else....A "safety Net" in hard times....

A small insurance policy should the worst happen.

Nobody can retrench you from your own business. A business that can never go broke either.... You can even set up a free website and perform zero cost marketing promotions. Zero overheads. Maximum profits.

That's how I started and you can do the same.

Even in hard times.... War, Anthrax scares, recession, have not effected my online business. Sales may not have increased, but they have not declined.

You may also think that you need "talent", writing skills and a certain level of education to succeed in running an online information product business. Not so, the world is full of educated and talented failures. What you do need however is "persistence" and a dogged determination to succeed.

So if you don't have spare money to invest, like my friend did, don't worry, 12 months from now you will have much more than my other friend who has invested his money to earn a measly interest of $575!!

You could have the same $10,000 plus an ongoing income from investing your "spare time" instead.

So next time you put your feet up in your spare hours, consider investing some of those hours up online!

The Internet is home of the business opportunity ad. While some are not legit, others do have the potential of netting you a pretty penny. Once you have found such an opportunity, it is important that you make the
most of it – but to do so wisely, you will need to observe a few tips and tricks that will not only help you to earn money, but also protect you from losing any of your hard earned cash in the process.

When you are starting out in pursuit of your business opportunity, you will need to juggle your full time job and your extracurricular pursuit. While it might be tempting to throw caution to the wind, quit your job and
pursue the opportunity full time, it is extremely unwise to do so. You will still have bills, and if you have a family, it is unfair to expect them to suddenly make do without the little extras they have come to appreciate.
Instead, go ahead and work your regular job while expanding on your business opportunity. This will prevent you from having to give up after a few unsuccessful months with maxed out credit cards.

Building a business takes time, and if you involve friends and family, you will probably be able to do so a lot faster. Of course, this should not mean that you try to peddle your nutritional supplements that are part of
the business you are building at every family reunion. Instead, you might be able to involve some family members in the business end itself. Do you need help with taxes? Maybe an aunt is good at doing them! Do
you have questions about licenses and insurance? If you have a stay at home dad who is willing to do some work in exchange for a bit of money, these headaches could be taken away from you. In short, rare is the
entrepreneur who makes money all by her or himself from the basement, yet plentiful is the entrepreneur who – with the help of friends and family – succeeded!

Your business opportunity requires exposure, yet there is more to advertising than paying for a three by five ad in the local rag. Instead, attend trade shows, hand out flyers, print up business cards (not the free
ones that carry another company's logo on the back) and network with other entrepreneurs. Do not stay home when you are trying to build a business, but instead go to where the business world is located and get out
the word! This ensures that you will truly make the most of your business opportunity without having to spend money you may not yet have earned on costly advertisements that may not be as effective as you had
hoped.

Article Body:
Many of us have a dream of setting up a web site, whether for commercial purposes, or just because we want one. We lack the skills to do so or we are intimidated by the whole process.
It seems some of us come "hard wired" with an intimate understanding of computers, programs, even programming, and these folks can make the move to web site concept, development and building effortlessly.
The rest of us - and that includes this author - we are not as computer friendly. We think bytes are something you do when you eat J. We have to rely on information that we have located on this topic by reading books (horrors!!) or have found web sites and tried to learn about building our own web site on the internet.
This takes a lot of time. This is time that I've already invested. Here are some of the things that I've determined are important to help make your search for the best web site facilitating software faster and more rewarding.
How inclusive is the software? If you just want a web site, and really don't know where you'll go with it, or even if you have a predetermined destination in mind and visions of making money from your site, you will want an all-inclusive software program. That is one that will allow you to contribute to the web site only that which you are comfortable with doing. For must of us, that will be sharing information on an expertise that we've developed either in the work place, or through pursuit of a hobby. Your contribution might be as simple as writing all about your topic and the various subjects pertaining to it.
Will it help you write? A good program must provide guidance and help for those of us that don't write particularly well, to assist us in presenting our information in a form that is pleasant for a visitor to read.
What tools? Your select web-development software must have tools. Tools to enable a rank novice to combine available elements from the software in such a way that results in a visually pleasing home page for the visitor to your new site. In other words, the software must include step-by-step instructions, in simple terms, about how to use the available content in the program to build a home page, and all subsequent pages that you would be proud to show the world.
What topics do I write on? An ideal web publishing program will "scan" the web for you, and tell you what words that people are using to find information on your topic. You, in turn, will write pages about that topic, making it easier for information searchers to find your site.
How do I link? Linking from your home page to all other pages, whether on yours or to other sites, must be simple and effortless. Navigation throughout the site must be handled by the software, and as your site becomes a bit more complex, a "broken link" reporting system to let the author know they've omitted or mistyped a connection is important.
Who's visiting my site? The software should provide almost real time reporting to you about how many visitors visit your site daily and differentiate between those that are unique, and those that have already been on your site that day. This is important information to provide you to prove that you are writing subjects that are on the right track, and also, when and if you decide to monetize your site, knowing how many visitors you get is also important to that process.
Do I need to understand html? The program must render html invisible to those that don't want to use it and make using it for those that wish to seamless. I can tell you that in time you will be visiting the  world of html effortlessly and painlessly, since you will learn some of it through osmosis, whether you wish to or not.
How will you support me? What will your program do for you when you've got a problem? Ideally, a support system that will bring you an answer to your questions within a reasonable length of time is critical. Regardless of how well written a program it is, the folks that put it together are already so far advanced down the path of program creating and using that I think it's extremely hard for them to realize what it's like for someone that knows nothing about the web. Therefore, their explanations of issues in the software may still be beyond the capabilities of most. I've still got my program's support address on my internet "speed dial"!
What about newsletters? Tools must be available in your software to allow you to publish newsletters, collect "sign-ups" for that newsletter, and provide forms into which visitors can enter questions for sending to you whenever they wish.
How about RSS? Even if you don't know what RSS (Real Simple Syndication) is, the software program must allow you to take advantage of this information distribution system, easily and effortlessly.
Pop-Ups? And whether we hate 'em or love 'em, pop-ups (windows that open on top of or under the already opened page)  are here to stay. If there's a legitimate reason for having information pop-up, the system must make it easy to do so.
Monetize me, baby! How will you, should you choose to, make money from your web site? The software must lead you down the freeway to finances, to allow you to use the skills you have to generate financial return. How will this particular software allow you to do this?
As you while your way down the computer path to internet stardom with your new web site, there will be many more questions. For me, it seemed sensible to select one program that provides everything I can think of right now - and then offer so much more - than it is to try to integrate the requirements of building my site from a number of different software programs. One program that "does-it-all", provided it actually did everything necessary, had to be less expensive than purchasing many packages, and this has turned out to be the case.
Web publishing is fun, and can be rewarding. Good luck in the development of your site.

How to make the switch to working online Part 2

How to make the switch to working online Part 2
Word Count:

Summary:
How to take the initial steps in starting your career and work online. How to pick and choose you lifestyle and develop yourself to ensure success in working online. By learning different unconventional marketing techniques and using different marketing strategies you gain the edge on your competition through marketing online.

Keywords:
Unconventional Marketing, Marketing Ideas, Marketing Strategy, Josh Whitford

Article Body:
My last post was about switching from a traditional job to working for yourself online. I touched on some basics needed to accomplish this task. For me, all of this started when I quit my day job and set out to work for myself online, inspiring me to write about The Top 10 Reasons to Quit Your Job. There are countless reasons to quit your job and start having fun, but how does someone make that jump from the rat race to living out a dream?
November 2006 is where my dream started. I was driving beet truck for a local farmer during harvest season, looking for jobs to apply to and setting up interviews. I listened to the radio a lot while driving and picked up a show by Dave Ramsey, the get out of debt guru. He inspired me to make life changes in order to get out of debt and live a more fulfilled life. After reading some of the books he recommended, including some of his own, I came across a book called, 48 Days to the Work You Love. I have mentioned this book a couple of times because I will gladly buy this for anyone graduating from high school or college. The book doesn't give you any answers about what jobs you should work, but it does ask the right questions. Over the next year and half, I worked to achieve my goal and quest to pursuit the career of my choice.
When I say I tried all the wrong ways to make money online, I mean it. I did the blog with Adsense, tried to sell ebooks, eBay drop shipping (including the book), and many others. I thought because others were successful at doing those things that I would be able to replicate their work. I was able to an extent do what they did but ultimately it cost me much more time and effort than I ever got out of those ideas. I always knew I wanted the flexibility and lifestyle that the Internet business could provide, but I was doing the business of others and not myself. It wasn't until I figured out that doing what you are really passionate about is the key to succeeding both on and offline in business. You truly have to love what you do and be willing to do it even without a paycheck. If you can honestly wake up in the morning and want nothing more than to get to work you have found what you love. I can't even sleep in anymore because I will just lay there thinking about the things I can do for the day.
For myself, I found that I love solving problems. I have know this for a long time but never capitalized on that ability to help negotiate my way through the situation until its resolve was complete. I also knew that I love working with people and helping to meet their needs (the go to person). What I did was merge offline business with business online. I have been helping local groups and businesses be found online. Most have a website but that site is not easily found in their local markets. I help define people's goals and target for their businesses online. In our local market, this is a completely untapped niche. I can't name anyone in town who really has a clue to accomplish these tasks for a business (some claim but don't deliver). The last two months have brought a lot of business in for me and I find that each day I love what I do more and more. I think it is so much fun to help people like this and in an untapped market there is a lot of opportunity to grow.
The biggest part to remember with all of the information you digest while beginning your quest to work online is to live out your dream, not the successes of another. Unless you can separate your quest for money apart from a fulfilled career, it will have a short lifespan. Ask yourself the right questions:
    * What are my favorite hobbies? (Passions)
    * What do I know a lot about or seek to know a lot about (investing, housing, SEO, puppies)?  (Drive / Motivation)
    * What are my talents (talking, writing, production, media, technologies)? (Leverages)
    * What do I get fulfillment out of (helping others, adding value, sharing, teaching)? (Purpose)
    * Who do I most want to work with (kids, businesses, charities, sports, car enthusiasts)? (Market)
Find your target market and build a product for it. Always have a plan and a goal before you start something online. My goal for this blog was to reach others and build a network. Don't build a blog and try 10 different methods of making money from it, you'll waste your time. Build a product or service for your target market, not a market for your product or service.

How do you think your computer will run if you don't perform regular maintenance on it? If your computer is running sluggish, if it periodically needs to be rebooted or doesn't boot up as quickly as it used to, it sounds like it's time for a Clean Up. The following instructions below will give you step by step instructions on how to ensure your PC continues to operate at its fullest potential. These instructions are relevant for machines running Windows XP and using Internet Explorer.

Here are the steps:

1. Open up Internet Explorer

2. Next click on the word Tools up at the top of your screen.

3. Click Internet Options.

4. In the middle of that box you'll see a section called Temporary Internet Files. Click the Delete Files button.

5. Click the box Delete offline content too, then OK.

6. Once that is done, click the Delete Cookies button within the Temporary Internet Files section. Click OK there too.

7. Next click the Settings button. Check for newer versions of stored pages should be clicked to automatically if it isn't already.

8. Change the Amount of Disk Space to use to 8MB. Click OK twice.

9. Next go to the green Start button in the very lower left corner of your screen. Click My Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Check Disk Clean up.

10. Use offline content or anything else it asks. It will take a few moments while it is checking how much space it can clean up. When you get the new pop-up window, make sure there are checks in every box. Click OK

11. After running Disk Clean up, go to Ad-Aware, update and run the program. If you don't have Ad-Aware SE Personal, it's a free very comprehensive spyware removal tool and it's remarkably simple to use. You can download it through Lavasoft. After running Ad-Aware, reboot your computer.

You should perform the above maintenance about once a week. Then on an as-needed basis, run Disk Defrag, which you can find in Start, My Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Defrag. By following the above simple steps your computer should continue to run at optimum performance!

I love online coupons and saving money off of them. If there is a bargain to be found, I am all over it. My husband calls me the coupon queen-kong. I get my coupon clipping tendencies from my mother, it's a genetic trait. My husband and my father on the other hand do not enjoy using them as much. If you handed them a discount coupon, they will be overly embarrassed to use it. Who cares if they can get a free meal or a huge discount, they suddenly lose the coupon before it needs to be presented. I personally present and take advantage of as many coupons as I can each and every opportunity I have.

Since I first started going into cyberspace, I noticed that there were online coupons available just about everywhere. If you want to take advantage of free meals, there are online coupons for that. If you want to save a few dollars on pet food or car rentals, there are online coupons that you can print out for that as well. A lot of websites only offer savings through use of an online coupon that you can only find on their site. I absolutely love that.

Online coupons can save people quite a bit of money. Or, they can be offering a small savings that when you add it up over time, really can turn out to be quite a large amount of money being saved. I personally like shopping at companies or websites that give away online coupons or even (especially!) free shipping.

You can sometimes get a better deal online than in person, but online coupons can get you free shipping or additional savings on top. Free shipping is never a bad deal because paying for shipping can sometimes cost you more than the item you're purchasing. Some companies will have an online coupon that you can print out and present in person. My brother's company does exactly that and it's great because it helps them to know how many people are actually visiting their site.

A particular clothing site that I frequent, often offers a 120% online coupon that you have to print out and present in person at the store. If it were not for the frequent online coupons, I most likely would not be shopping in that store. What's even better is that the coupon can be used for items that are already on sale, and that's pretty rare. I'd most likely be walking right past that particular store had I not discovered the online coupon from them.

What is a regional web site?

A regional web page is one that focuses in on a specific area such as a city, county, state, country or area of the world. You do not have to have a regional web site to add a regional component to your site. There are two types of sites I am going to talk about. First is the regional site itself and then a web site with a regional section in it. If you already have a web site and want to expand the content and the audience then adding the regional section is a great option for you.

Building a regional web site.

Regional web sites are becoming more popular. Five years ago if you built a site about the community you live in there was a good chance you were one of only one or two sites to do so. Obviously if you were only one of two web sites for a community then you were at the top of any search for information about that community. It is not as easy now. This is still the case for many smaller towns and counties. But there is much more competition for larger more populated areas. Don't just rule out larger areas because if done right then you can still do great in these areas as well.

The first thing to do is decide on the area you want to build a page about. A good place to start is where you live or your favorite vacation spots. This is a good choice because you are already familiar with the area. I will share two things the site will need. The first is more important and the second will bring in more traffic.

Next you need to list the things that make the community you chose unique. It is especially good to find the lesser-known unique things about your community. This can include historical places, unique places and fun places. It can even include the best places to kiss. It can have reviews of local restaurants and business, a history of the community, little know facts about the community and any other things that make your community unique and special.

This is important because most community sites are just a group of links pages about the area. This is part of doing it right. When your page is unique and full of quality content it is easier to get good quality links to your site. Many people forget about this and concentrate on make pages about the key words that people search for. When this happens you end up with a site that nobody wants to link to and nobody wants to spend time looking at the different pages of your web site. Quality is always at the top of the agenda. The goal of any web site should be to be the best web site on the internet about your particular topic. You decide which is better to have 1000 visitors who visit your site a day who average looking at 2 pages or 300 visitors a day who average 10. In the long run when you have hundred of well-ranked sites linked to you then you will get the thousands of visitors who visit many pages on your site.

After you have the above and have a quality site for your community then it is time to start looking at keywords. This is what brings people to your site. A good tool for finding out what people are searching for is Overtures Keyword Selector Tool.

Type in the name of the community in the search box and click the arrow. It will give you a list of how many times that a term has been searched for in Overture the previous month. I will also list all the phrases that were searched for using that term. This way you know what people are looking for when they search for something in your community. Now you can take the information in this book and apply it to making pages based on these keywords. Remember that with every page you build quality is the key. You want your site to be better than any other site about your community. For an example of how to use this tool try this link.

As an example if people are searching for museums in your community do not just make a link page to the museums web sites. Rather list every museum in the area and add a paragraph or two for each. You can also make a page about every museum and have an index page called museums in your community that link to all the museum pages you have built. If you have 10 museums in your community people will visit most or all of the museum pages. Be sure to add a short description on the museums in your community page.

Adding a regional section to your web site.

This is an idea that has become very popular in the last few years. As the internet continues to grow it is becoming harder to be at the top of the search engines for the most popular terms. So one of the things you can do is to make regional pages for your products or information. I stumbled on this by accident years ago. As I have mentioned I have a very large arthritis web site. As a service to my visitors I decided to add a section to the web site that listed had a page in for every state that listed arthritis resources in that state. It quickly became one of the most popular sections of my site especially in the search engines.

This can be done for any product or service that is not specific to a community. For example I knew a guy who was representative for a Satellite TV system company. He could sell a system anywhere in the country. Once he made the sale the company arranged for the system to be installed. So he built a page for Satellite TV for every city in America. He did this because he found out that many people were searching for Satellite TVs in their communities. He had about pages for over 500 different cities.

This worked well for a while, but he had a problem. Basically every page in his site was the same. The only difference was the name of the city and state.   The search engines now frown on this. He tried to fix this by adding unique information about each city. He finally gave up on this and redid the site under a new domain name. Once a search engine punishes you it is hard to get back in their good graces.

So if you are going to do this for a product or service you need to make every page unique. As mentioned above, quality always is important and you can no longer cheat the search engines. So do not take the easy way. Take the time to make every page one that the search engines and your visitors will be proud of.

This can also be done as a service. One of the most popular sites on the internet is topix.net. They have the largest news network that includes news for almost every city and town in America. This can be done for almost any service from adoption to zoos. Some subjects have way too much competition and companies that are spending too much money for you to compete with. Regional travel and legal sites are examples of these. Even though there is a ton of competition for some types of regional sites there are still literally thousands of different topics and services that do not have too much competition.

Solid leadership is a combination of instinct and education. It is born of the inherent versus environment precept. It is never all of one and none of another, but a balance. Great leaders carry a charisma: some of it inborn, some of it through the development of skills that bring with them confidence. That charisma, or as we call it, that "It" encompasses more than sheer charisma. "It" is the magic that causes people to follow when it doesn't make logical sense to do so. "It" enables groups of followers to weather storms, fight uphill battles, stretch their own limits beyond what was once thought possible, and live on long after the leader is gone. (By studying the greatest leaders in history, such as Ganghis Kahn, Atilla the Hun and Winston Churchill, we can get an education in the secrets of "It.")

Any great leader has an "It" checklist that looks like this:

1. There is a difference between leaders and managers. Managers make sure that things are running smoothly, leaders create change and followings through vision.

2. Leaders create visions in which others can believe. Leaders enable followers to buy in to decisions by giving them clear objectives and expectations and them leaving them to use their talents and strengths to do the work.

3. Leaders understand and honor the words autonomy and empowerment. Leaders know not to do too much, but to supply their people with the resources and guidance they need to follow through on their own. Outstanding leaders lead the charge, riding on their horses with the troops, but they allow each soldier to draw their "bayonettes" as conditions necessitate.

4. Leaders see the totality of their company. Their cross-functional teams know how to work as a whole enterprise. The best of leaders teach their teams how they are interwoven, and how each team carries a vital purpose to the whole, and how they fit into the interwoven mesh of the corporate blanket.

5. Leaders understand the necessity of key subordinate leaders. They know how to hire based on unique valuable talents and remember to let those talents work for the group. They know that it is the weak leader who allows his own fears about loss of control to cloud his memory in regard to why those special talents were brought on board to begin with.

6. Leaders have followers who not only believe in the mission of the organization, but have followers who are accustomed to winning. Winners believe that goals and objectives can actually be captured. Leaders hire people who know how to win and thrive on the energy generated by winning.

7. Leaders are curious. Usually they are curious by nature. They want to know why and how things are done. They ask questions and aren't afraid to probe into unknown areas to find solutions.

8. Leaders are instinctual. They follow their gut. Their curiosity drives them to accumulate the necessary information they need so that when decision time comes, it is the gut that has the final say.

9.Leaders understand the saying that a rolling stone carries no moss. Their organizations are not mossy. They know that the key to success is continual momentum. Momentum breeds momentum. They carry this forward from product development and reward programs that boost morale, to customer satisfaction efforts.

10. Leaders reside in the moment of today and tomorrow simultaneously. They are not short sighted, developing systems and institutionalizing their best strengths in order to succeed today and in the future.

11. Leaders plan. They know that 90% of their time is best spent planning and 10% is spent on administrative work.

12. Leaders form partnerships. They don't pretend to be lone rangers. They know that their success hinges upon their ability to use other people strategically. The partnerships of successful leaders are win-win partnerships. They ally themselves with anyone from customers, competitors, vendors and whatever sources bring the results their organizations need.

13. Leaders are not incremental. They transform. They welcome change and use change to keep on top of their industries.

14. Leaders admit their mistakes. They know how blame casts a fatal blow to morale and trust. They do not, however, gravel and seek pity. They acknowledge, learn, and move on.

15. Leaders are masters of observation. They listen, watch, and detect what others overlook. They use the subtle cues or observations to give them the upper hand when needed.

16. Leaders institutionalize their values, visions, accomplishments and strengths. They know how, through procedures and systems, to filter their strengths through the organization.

17. Leaders may leave physically, but not spiritually. Their legacies live on long after they have exited their employment.

18. Leaders don't hold hands, they shape their organizations through shaping minds. They provide direction and guide. They do not believe in making decisions for their key subordinate right hands.

19. Leaders give credit where credit is due. They acknowledge and reward achievement and use the momentum from the accomplishments to fuel further success in their followers.

20. Leaders don't provide positions out of the goodness of their hearts. They create positions and fill them based on the objectives and the vision of the company.

21. Leaders remain focused on the company missions and lead their followers to do the same.

22. Leaders are global thinkers. They don't underestimate the power of the global economy. They constantly search for ways in which they can expand or benefit upon the global and they are keenly aware of the pitfalls of turning a blind eye to the global business markets.

23. Leaders know communication. They're savvy interpersonal and technological communicators. They know the ins and outs of dealing with various personalities as well as they know how e-mail connects them to their front line staff.

24. Leaders think outside the box, inside the box and all around the box.

25. Leaders are not afraid to take an unorthodox approach. You'll never hear one say, "We don't/can't do it that way." They go beyond the "That's the way we always do it" mentality to the "That's the best way to do it."

26. Leaders learn from leaders. They look to history, competitors and mentors. They are not too proud to always learn from those they admire.

27. Leaders know that there is always something more to learn. They are constantly feeding their minds. They know that the key to progressive transformation is found in ideas. They realize that success isn't going to happen. They have to seek new ways in which to make it happen.

28. Leaders give ownership when it is strategically advantageous to do so. They give rewards and incentives, such as stock options, in order to keep key employees. They understand that rewards give birth to new successes.

29. Leaders create teams to achieve goals. They know that the meeting of two minds can develop opportunities that only one mind may miss. They successfully manage the interactions of their teams in order to meet desired ends.

30. Leaders develop creative ways to cut through unnecessary bureaucracy or eliminate hindering bureaucratic practices in order to expedite vital activities.

31. Leaders know that in order to keep pace and be innovative, they need to educate and empower their staffs. They provide training, education, and workshops to keep the minds they lead in top, competitive shape.

32. Leaders focus their people's efforts on the customer.

33. Leaders understand that key employees are assets. They are careful about who is hired and appointed, understanding the ripple effects of putting the wrong people in the wrong places. Gary DiCamillo, Polaroid's Chief Executive since 1995, has suffered the woes of poor employee retention, losing key people in sales and product development. It's reported that most of these human resource assets were lost when DiCamillo filled his executive vice-president position with Judith Boynton, previous controller for Amoco. Key employees were baffled by the appointment and lost faith in DiCamillo for putting, what they thought, was an unqualified sub-leader in such a high-ranking position. Polaroid steadily lost $166 million since DiCamillo's reign, from 1995 through 2000. [Source: Forbes 1-22-01 p. 69.]

34. Leaders know how to eliminate the wrong people.

35. Leaders are decisive.

36. Leaders have the courage to live with their decisions. *

37. Leaders work it out when things go wrong. They face problems head on and deal with the issues at hand quickly and effectively.

38. Leaders charge forward with urgency.

39. Leaders guard all assets that give them an edge. They are careful to set in place confidentiality systems and to properly license and trademark intellectual property, inventions and groundbreaking concepts.

40. Leaders know that even the greatest product is not enough. Often criticized for not acting quickly enough to develop spin-off products from its PT Cruiser, DaimlerChrysler recently revealed concept cars based on the blockbuster success of the PT Cruiser. Why? The market will always demand something new, better, more versatile, etc. The GT Cruiser Concept has a larger engine, the PT Cruiser Convertible Concept offers a sporty, fun twist, and the Panel Cruiser Concept is offered as a light cargo vehicle with its 119.8 cubic feet and wood base floor. The original PT Cruiser is one of the most sought out vehicles by buyers today; it's sold at full list price and backordered for months at a time. DaimlerChrysler's possibilities are endless. What are they doing with the product to renew it, to increase demand, and to prepare to fill that demand?

Look at the list again. How can you better motivate your staff to perform at higher levels? Do you see what might be slowing down progress? What might you need to improve upon in your quest to run uphill and seize the flags of victory? Chances are you're doing a good job already. The question becomes, what can you do to convert from good to great? Prosper and enjoy!

I get dumbfounded. Another dozen "Sizzling Niche PLR Package" type offers float into my inbox. I suspect the niche markets they're in aren't quite all they're made out to be. I do my usual check - crunching the numbers in overture, looking at the big ticket affiliate programs on offer and browsing over typical Overture/Adsense contextual payouts.

I shake my head in dismay. Click. Get into my trash where you belong.

The thing is I've been an internet business entrepreneur for years. I know how to separate the chaff from the wheat. Most newbies don't and that's worrying. That's the point of this article - I want to share with you *exactly* how to analyse any and every niche market so that you can do your own research and never be tricked by another niche package that's been developed by some greedy fly-by-night merchant that's just cashing in on the PLR craze.

If you're about to set-up a niche online business, for the first time or not, you must research the following very thoroughly before whipping out your credit card and buying the first niche package with private label rights that comes your way.

Here are some of the broad techniques that I use to analyse any potential niche that I'm considering entry into. If at least four of the five aren't right, I'll walk and move on to the next niche on my list.

(1) It All Starts With The Back-End & Existing Income Generating Opportunities - Do They Exist?

I've seen it all. Niche packages on internet marketing, pet grooming, how to make your own candles... the list goes on. With any potential niche you MUST start with the back-end opportunities that are available to you. By this I mean the additional income generation methods once you make the first eBook sale or after you get your prospect to the website. You're not going to get rich on $29 book sales so you need to find some additional items that would interest your prospects. Here are some things you must look out for:

- Are There Big Ticket Products? Even if you convert a standard 1% of a $1,000 product (paying half of the sale value in commissions), you're going to earn $500 from every 100 visitors to your site. Believe me, in some niche markets there are just no big ticket items (either because the niche isn't big enough to support such a thing or the site infrastructure is not available as the niche operates largely in the old offline world).

- Multitude of products: I like niches that offer a multitude of different products. CD's eBooks, DVDs, seminars, courses, software, membership sites. It means that there are lots of unique products to offer your prospects. In some niche markets there may be only one or two established packages for potential customers... they've seen it all before, may already have it and your chances of making that back end sale gets much tougher.

(2) Show Me The Numbers - OVERTURE!

There's a debate with some online celebrities as to whether "numbers" matter - by that I mean the number of prospects in any given niche. I don't want to perch on the fence. While I do think it's possible to operate profitably in some smaller niche markets, I much prefer BIG ones. Niche industries that have a pool of prospects that number in the millions or even the billions. There's just a certain comfort knowing that your niche enjoys that sort of demand and it increases your ability to create sub-products, put a spin on your products to target sub-niches and so on. That's why I love niche markets such as investment & finance, real estate and travel - the numbers alone mean you have a fair chance of success.

(3) Cash Rich Prospects - Don't Try To Sell A Porsche To A Beggar.

I don't wish to sound insensitive with this but I'm here to try and help you make money - not win an award for humanitarian of the year. The simple fact is that if you want to make money, you need to sell to people who have money. That's just basic common sense but you'd be surprised at the number of people who do not even consider this factor before jumping into a niche that has limited cash backing. Now combine a market that has MILLIONS of cash rich prospects and now you're in a prosperous niche. People in such niches usually pay good money, often without too much thought. For example in the stock market and real estate niche market it's common to spend $5,000 to attend a seminar and some real estate investors will splash out $300+ on the fly just to view a property that's abroad (very common in the UK where cash rich investors jet off to Spain/Bulgaria/Portugal etc to inspect a potential buy). This is the sort of prospect you want to sell to.

(4) What Do Advertisers Pay To Advertise In Adsense/Overture? How Many Advertisers Are There?

I like contextual advertising - Google Adsense. Some people have been comically predicting the death of Adsense. Check Googles stock price and you'll find that these people probably have IQ issues. See, in *their niche* (probably internet marketing) Adsense incomes may be on a short term downtrend so of course some set off into a magnificent panic while others sell hyped up reports to exploit the situation. Actually, Adsense in the internet marketing field isn't all that great - the payouts to publishers can be low (though not always - I've had mixed results myself). In other markets it's brilliant. In real estate returns of $5+ per click are not uncommon. In the investment niche it can be $8+. In these niches Adsense becomes your best friend - it also has an overwhelming ad stock inventory for popular niches and the ads are highly targeted - for example one of my niche sites reviews the Maldives as a luxury holiday destination including a page on each specific resort (eg Hilton). Thanks to Google Adsense, when a visitor comes to the Hilton review they are offered an ad that takes them to the Hilton resort (similar on many other resorts too). This is great for the advertiser, great for the publisher (me) and very convenient for the visitor. Everyone wins.

I divert somewhat - when you analyse a niche the point is that you should not only check that the bid values are high, but also that there are a fairly high number of advertisers (more competition means bigger bids means bigger commissions). In some small or unfancied niches there just aren't enough advertisers. Why? Because the prospect base is either very small, has no money (or both).

(5) Pay Per Lead? We Love It...

I believe we're going to see a lot more about Pay Per Leads in the near future. This is when you get paid for a particular action made by your visitor to the advertiser. Typically it means they fill out a short form, or download an eBook, or set up a free membership - the visitor doesn't have to buy anything. Pay per lead can be very lucrative, particularly in industries such as real estate and foreclosures. I've seen some of these niches offering $5 to $20 per lead that you send them. Why? Because just one lead that goes on to buy a property or use their services can bring in several thousands or even hundreds of thousands for them in income. What's $20 to get in that type of business?

Another big plus point about pay per lead is that once you know how to wield your own content with it the response rate can be explosive. For instance it's quite easy to write an article on making money through foreclosures, and then prompting your prospects to take action by downloading a free eBook on foreclosures (for which you get paid $5 per download).

The above is the same basic blueprint I use to investigate my niches and I really urge you to do the same. Next time you see one of those junk PLR products trying to get you to pay money for content that has no potential or future you'll be able to pick it out and trash it yourself.

Happy niche hunting!
